Using Ninite With Servoyant
Here are some notes from Servoyant on using Ninite Pro with their Remote management tool.
Utilizing Ninite Pro is a great way to install common applications without needing to download the latest installer or know the command line syntax for the specific product. Ninite actually takes care of all of that for you! All you need to do is subscribe to the service, create your installers, and then deploy them via Servoyant. This article is not meant to highlight all of the ways in which Ninite can be used to install applications.
Please be aware that this will article assumes you are using Ninite Pro, which supports command line switches and silent installation. The regular version of Ninite does not support these features.
To use Ninite, you must first create your installer. Once you have created it either using the Ninite One application or the web site, upload it to a client-accessible URL from which you can download it to the client PC's. You can then create your Job Group with two steps:
Download Resource
URL - enter the download locations for the Ninite installer. If the installer has spaces in the name, remove those spaces from the file name. For example, rename Ninite Installer.exe to NiniteInstaller.exe.
Deploy Software
Installer - enter the name of the ninite installer followed by /silent. For example, NiniteInstaller.exe /silent
